Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
The department offers two graduate training programs in the Environmental Sciences area, including Master of Science in Environmental Sciences (Thesis [Residential Only] and Non-Thesis [Residential and Online] options), and the Master of Science in Environmental Management (Non-Thesis option, Online Only). Students complete a total of ~30 credit hours that include a research (thesis option) or professional project (non-thesis option). Students interested in graduate study within the areas of environmental sciences and management, including natural resources, can select from specialty areas such as climate change, watershed management, environmental health, fate and transport of environmental toxicants, soil health, and nutrient and ecosystem management. This program is flexible in terms of research and course work so that students can achieve their career-inspired and individual objectives. The non-thesis Master of Science in Environmental Management program (online only) seeks to provide advanced training in technical and managerial skills in working with a variety of public, private and non-profit entities in the areas of environmental protection, sustainable practices and compliance in the work place. The program will also provide opportunities for potential students who are already in the workforce to obtain advanced training while on the job. Students will develop essential management skills and technical knowledge required to function in a variety of managerial positions within the environmental field. The curriculum will include training in environmental policy, auditing, and management related to various media including air, water, and soil and climate change adaptations.
