Description

The Department of Rangeland and Wildlife Sciences offers Master of Science degree in Range and Wildlife Management. The department also offers the Doctor of Philosophy in Wildlife Science.

Research projects in Wildlife Science have involved a variety of topics on game and nongame wildlife, habitat management, disease issues, natural history and basic theoretical aspects of wildlife ecology and management. Faculty from the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute are recognized internationally for their contributions to natural resource management.

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) provide academic program support under the supervision of a faculty member. GTA activities must support the teaching mission of the department. Graduate Teaching Assistantships should not be given to graduate students who serve primarily as research assistants or administrative assistants (secretarial support for departments). Eligibility Requirements Enrolled as a full-time student each semester serving as TA Degree seeking graduate student. A GTA will immediately lose his/her assistantship if the GTA withdraws from a course and drops below full-time status. GTA funding is for 2 years maximum for Masters students and 3 years for Doctoral students. GTAs are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. Maintain a 3.0 GPA to hold assistantships; departmental requirements may be higher. Stipends vary by program and college. No more than 20 hours per week (combined employment at the university may not exceed 20 hrs/wk). Departments are expected to evaluate the performance of GTAs each semester
