Environmental Science Graduate Program
The Environmental Science Graduate Program (ESGP) at Oklahoma State University prepares graduate students for careers as environmental scientists. Our interdisciplinary degree program attracts and produces students capable of thinking beyond a single discipline. We work with 30 different departments on campus so our students can choose from more than 200 courses to develop a plan of study which addresses their individual career goals. We offer both Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees at our main campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At our satellite campus in Tulsa, we offer the Professional Science Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, a program that is accredited by the National Professional Science Master's Association and the first of its kind in Oklahoma.
The Professional Science Master Degree Program differs from other ESGP degrees by providing students a springboard to industry-specific job opportunities. With its regulatory emphasis, the PSM program places high importance on practical problem solving rather than on research; those who plan to pursue a doctoral degree are strongly encouraged to apply for our traditional MS degree which results in a thesis.
If you plan on working in industry, consulting or with a regulatory agency (such as the EPA or ODEQ), this program is designed with your goals in mind.
Unlike traditional programs, the PSM degree focuses on preparing graduates to:
- Help industry comply with regulations
- Reduce waste
- Produce cost savings
- Improve sustainability
