Department of Forestry & Environmental Conservation
A Forest Resource degree from Clemson is designed to provide students with advanced training for scientific-based management of forest resources, products, and services.
The Program offers three degree options: Master of Forest Resources (MFR), Master’s of Science (MS) in Forest Resources, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Forest Resources. The Master of Forest Resources is a non-thesis degree, while a formal thesis is required for the Master of Science. This listing is for the MS degree option.
Most students in our thesis-based degree programs are supported through Research Assistantships. These assistantships are made available to students at the discretion of individual faculty members. Therefore, we recommend you contact faculty whose research interests you, and inquire about the availability of such assistantships prior to submitting a formal application.
The Forest Resources graduate degrees are housed within the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation. The Forestry faculty have expertise in a wide variety of forest-related disciplines, including forest ecology, forest health, wood products, forest economics, and silviculture.
Graduates from the program are working in both private and public spheres to help ensure sustainability and quality of resources including timber, water, and recreational value on natural lands. Enrollment in these programs is open to students who have earned a baccalaureate degree in forestry, forest products, or a related field.
