Center for Sustainability Studies
The Master of Science in Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary degree that focuses on the natural and social sciences as they relate to environmental problem solving. It accommodates individual student needs and backgrounds while providing students with several curricular and research opportunities. The curriculum focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to environmental problem-solving. Each graduate student is required to complete course work requirements and conduct a research project leading to a thesis.
Housed in the Center for Environmental, Economics, Earth and Space Studies, applied environmental research focuses on both generic and regional problems related to pollution impacts and abatement, natural resource utilization and protection, and the present and future sustainability of communities. The Center features laboratories and equipment devoted to ecological, chemical microbiological, toxicological, and geospatial studies. Working with the Center, students have opportunities to interact with authorities across disciplines through seminars, conferences and cooperative research.d students who exhibit a high potential for successfully pursuing a career in environmental professions.
